If
you’re craving for mashed potatoes in a form of a dessert and you’re skinny
enough to care about gaining extra calories, here’s a great recipe for you. You’ll
never think that this delicious dessert is incredibly easy to make. But it
really is. Just make sure you have your readymade pie crust on hand so you’ll
no longer need to worry about making it by yourself.
You
just need to make your own pie filling from mashed potatoes. Here’s how to do
it!
Ingredients:
- Two ready-made pie crust
- 9-inch Pie plate
- 4 large potatoes (peeled and cubed)
- 1 cup Dead Simple Turkey Gravy
- 1 egg white
- Coarse sea salt
- 1/4 cup softened butter
Place potatoes in a
saucepan, fill in with water and sprinkle with salt. Cook and bring to a boil
until tender. Pierce with a fork to check tenderness. Remove from heat and
drain thoroughly.
In a bowl, mash
potatoes along with butter until smooth and fine. Set aside to cool.
Meanwhile, preheat
oven to 450°F. Set rack in the center of the oven. Carefully roll out your
bottom pie crust on the pie plate. Pour mashed potatoes into the pie crust
evenly, spread and smoothen out. Pour turkey gravy over mashed potatoes a
circular manner, starting from the inside moving to the outside.
Roll out your pie crust on top to cover the
pie. Seal the edges snugly. In a small bowl, beat egg white together with 1
tablespoon of water. Brush egg mixture all over the top crust and then make 3
or 5 holes on the pie to serve as steam holes. Sprinkle over with sea salt.
Bake pie in the oven for about 15 minutes until
light brown. Adjust temperature to 350°F and continue to bake until pie turns golden brown and bubbles
on the steam holes are noticeable. This will take about 45 minutes longer.
Let it cool for 15
minutes. Slice and then serve. Bon appétit!
